Blogging the Book

Posted by anastasia on 07-07-2006

It's pretty much done. All except the endnotes, glossary and some last minute revisions. I finished at about 10:30 p.m. PST on the 4th of July. Fireworks were going off outside, my dog was sleeping on the couch, and my husband was at a BBQ. I immediately felt about 100 tons lighter. There was something about making revisions to the whole manuscript that made me realize, "wow, I wrote a book." I'm now eager to talk with other authors about how they have promoted their books — what grassroots, guerilla methods work best? If parents are my primary audience, what is the best way to reach them? Thanks to all of my readers who stuck by me during this hiatus and to Chet, for keeping this blog going during this time. This is the last Blogging the Book entry. Look for Plugging the Book sometime this winter (j/k).

    hi.
Congratulations! I wrote a book in 2003 and I embarked on a virtual blog tour. I visited a different blog every weekday during september and responded to comments and/or whatever the blog author had written in response to the book.

You can see a thumbnail snapshot of the tour (and download a full pdf of the tour) here if you're interested.

It was a great experience, and really a grassroots effort. The only cost was sending copies of the book to the different bloggers. And it was quite effective.
